Creating a Dynamic, Multi-Category Directory with Tiered Membership and Coupon Functionality
One of the key challenges was to design and implement a directory that could accommodate multiple business categories, while also managing membership plans, custom profiles, and coupon features for first responders. Ensuring an intuitive user experience for both businesses and first responders, along with secure transaction handling, required careful planning and execution.
Scalable Directory with Custom Membership and Coupon Systems
We built a robust membership system that enables businesses to sign up under various monthly plans. Each business can create and manage its profile, showcasing badges such as “First Responder Supporter” or “Healthy Meal Options.” Additionally, we developed a coupon management feature that lets businesses post exclusive discounts for first responders, who can easily claim them. Our team also ensured that businesses from diverse industries — from Food & Beverage to Automotive and Professional Services — could easily categorize themselves, improving search and discovery for users.
Engaging and Functional Platform Supporting First Responders
The final platform successfully connects businesses and first responders, fostering a supportive community. Businesses are empowered to promote their services while visibly demonstrating their commitment to first responders. First responders now have access to a curated list of supportive businesses offering special benefits, improving engagement and trust within the community.
Our Process
Our team began by analyzing the core mission of the Responder Assistance Project to understand the exact needs of both businesses and first responders. We structured a flexible directory system that accommodates diverse categories, designed with scalable backend architecture to support growth. A key focus was user experience — ensuring businesses could easily onboard, manage profiles, and post coupons, while first responders could search and claim offers efficiently. We integrated badges/tags for visual identification, set up a seamless membership subscription system, and implemented responsive design principles for accessibility across devices. Continuous testing ensured stability and security throughout the development process.
